Following a rainout on Wednesday, June 21, the BerMis Senior Legion baseball team entertained Alma on the following night.
The Cardinals roughed up BerMis pitcher Ashton Wasenius for five runs in the first inning, two in the second, two in the third and six more in the fourth frame to clobber the locals, 15-2.
Alma banged out three hits in the first, but was aided by a BerMis error, a hit batsman and two walks. In the second, the Cards strung together back-to-back singles and a bases-clearing double to take a 7-0 lead. Three Alma hits in the third resulted in the visitors taking a 9-0 lead. Alma staged its third two-out rally in the fourth to take a 15-0 edge before BerMis got on the board.
Wasenius led off the BerMis fourth by being hit, but he was thrown out at second. A. J. Matejka singled and came around to score on a single by Grant Dahlgren. Dahlgren scored on an Alma error before Aden Matejka grounded out to end the scoring. The two singles were the only hits of the game for BerMis.
The Seniors will be in action tonight (Thursday), when they will host Minden at Loomis for a 7 p.m. contest. Next Wednesday, they host Overton at Loomis (7 p.m.) and Friday, July 14th, they will again host Minden for another 7 p.m. game.
