Youth from around the state ventured to the Phelps-Gosper 4-H Progress Show at the Phelps County Fairgrounds on June 3 to show their sheep and beef livestock. Thirty-five 4-H youth from 12 different counties participated in the various divisions of market and breeding sheep and beef. Sheep Progress Show results were as follows: Senior Sheep Showmanship Champion - Tanner Kirchhoff – Kearney; Senior Reserve Champion - Brice Hodson – Curtis. Intermediate Sheep Showmanship Champion - Marty Baldwin – Dannebrog; Junior Sheep Showmanship Champion - Lauren Richards – Geneva and Junior Res. Champion - Eidos Klein – Maywood. Beef Progress Show results were as follows: Senior Beef Showmanship Champion - Malina Lindstrom - Elm Creek; Senior Res. Champion - Evan Tuma – Ord; Intermediate Beef Showmanship Champion - Jacey Smidt – Minden; Intermediate Res. Champion – Abby Scholz - Loomis. Junior Beef Showmanship Champion - Garrett Scholz – Loomis and Reserve Champion - Jaelin Wolfinger - Lexington. Receiving Purple Ribbons in Showmanship: Alexis Billeter – Loomis; Dylan Wendell – Smithfield; Cooper Lindstrom – Elm Creek. Receiving Blue Ribbons in Showmanship: Georgia Crandall – Overton. In the Sheep Progress Show, six youth competed in breeding ewes and market lamb divisions. Champion Breeding Ewes - Tanner Kirchhoff – Kearney and Res. Champion Breeding Ewes - Brice Hodson – Curtis. In the Beef Progress Show, 29 youth competed in three divisions: breeding heifers, market heifers, and market steers. Champion Breeding Heifer - Jacey Smidt – Minden. Res.
